I'm really impressed with all of your fair displays--and especially the cattle! I'm sure they are the stars!

Just saw this thread and WOW!!!! I am so impressed - you all are amazingly talented. Laaci, do you have a plan or drawing of the little red barn with the picture of the cow inside? I'd love to see if I could borrow that idea from you.

WillowsEdge,
I just saw your reply. As for the barn, it was a major lucky find. It was an old "nick-nack" cabinet that had little shelves in it. I can remember when I was little if you got a box of tea it came with a little animal. Well it was a display for those. I was at a garage sale and found it. I wasn't even looking for anything like it! I had won the digital picture frame at a Christmas party. It is a big one a 12x14. I had decided I was just going to beef it up in a wooden frame and use it to have a slide show of the cows. Well when I found the little barn I got it because it was cute and only $1. I was just going to have it in my kitchen. It wasn't till I got it home and went hey I can take the shelves out and the digital frame will fit in perfect!
The over all measurements of the barn are 16 inches wide by 20 inches tall and just over 2 inches deep. The opening for the picture frame part is about 12 3/4 by 14 3/4. I added the little fence at the bottom because the frame just sits in there and then has 4 little screws that hold it to the back of the frame. It gave me the security that there was a bit of a ledge to hold the frame in just in case. The picture frame has a little remote to turn it on/off and either steady picture or slide show. So we use that but did cute out a little access panel in the back so if the remote ever dies we can manually push the buttons on the back.
Hope that helps, if not just let me know and I can take some pictures of it up close of the sides and back.

Wow! Nice display ideas. I took to IA State Fair last yr a skull with removable horn casing so that people could actually SEE the radiator look/effect of horns. I certainly know the disease "dexteritis" well! Therefore, I have a lot of beloved Dexters to sell if you pass my muster for "pre-loved ones"...and of course have young ones too--quick plug. Hated missing AGMs (both). Hope some people who live in the Midwest and will come to the MO State Fair will use some of the educational ideas on this thread in their displays. South (hilly) MISSOURI has a very active Dexter bunch, but MO is a pretty big state and there are lots of people in other regions who have never seen a Dexter! So I think several of the posters here SHOULD be "flattered" by some good imitators of these ideas! Another plug: come if you can to the MO State Fair!
