I used the beef tape on a "shortie" and non carriers. I have used the tape and then walked them to the scale and it is within 25-50 lbs generally. sometimes in my favor.......

He's probably ready. Is he nice and round? I just butchered one at 18 months. he hung at 457. He has just the right amount of fat. I did grain him a little, but mostly lots of timothy and alfalfa.

Gene, I will keep your offer in mind. ;D The beef turned out great. I've had tenderloin, NY strip, rib eye, top butt, and round steak so far. Oh, and of course hamburger. We are lucky here as far as hay goes. The standard hay is timothy, bromegrass, and about 50% alfafa. I also like to get some 4th crop which is nearly pure alfalfa. We have to feed about 6 months of the year, so it gets a little expensive. This last year, we fed hay all summer due to the drought.
