Olga, one of the more lucid posters on this site suggested to me privately that if you could make your own designation, probably Postmaster General would be a good title for compulsive posters. cheers, c.

I don't want to punish anyone for being active on this board. I realize the mistake I made - I had created ranks in such a way that it required a lot of posts to achieve the top rank. In order not to single anyone out like that, I re-adjusted the post count necessary to reach the top category, "veteran", to identify anyone who has dedicated a lot of their time to this board. I hope this is acceptable to all.

I don't understand why people need a label in the first place, maybe it's how this particular forum works. I'd be happy if the number of posts was removed forever.

I guess that would be a last ditch attempt, to remove all ranks. But I think it's nice for newcomers to be able to distinguish other newcomers from long-time members.

I check this board a couple of times each day but don't post very often. I am sure my rank is novice but that doesn't bother me as I love to see what's going on with everyone and get a few good laughs along the way. Novice or Expert doesn't mean much to me just the board and contents can be very helpful. Thanks Olga for doing this for us.
Wow, Just posted this and it said I was a lurker! Had to edit to add this. Don't think I like that lurker status!

Star-envy Hans? I'll bet mine are gold ;-). I have no opinion Olga, as I had no clue in the first place. Guess I should sign in on the computer sometime.

Hi Olga, I think the words you have chosen are suitably neutral :-) Thanks, marion

Oh, those are silver stars...it looked like they were empty where all the other members have color inside them. I feel better now. I wasn't voted most popular in school either so I'm used to it. Yours are bronze Joel, start posting! Olga, the titles are fine, don't waste your time thinking about it!

Olga, seems like the system triplicates itself. Stars and 'label' both denote quantity of posts (no comment on quality ), and then the system lists the actual number of posts, too. I agree with Gene, but see your point, too. Is it possible to just use the stars, and leave the label field blank? That way no one's feelings are hurt, but you get the point across about volume. Or, just leave the number of posts in small print as it is, and get rid of the rest? I rather like the idea of silent type, occasional commenter, chatty, verbose, prattlemaster or maybe (since Gene put up a sketch of a manure spreader to represent himself), what about a progressive list of farm implements? lawnmower, weedwhacker, mower, brushhog, manure spreader... okay, I'll admit it, this is all very tongue in cheek. fun, tho'. cheers, c.

I think I may be able to do away with ranks all together. But if you have a rank, it has to have a name and stars. Rank names are best left neutral, I even thought about naming them after strengths of coffee, lol. If a bunch of you think that rank names/stars are redundant, let me know and I'll get rid of them.
