That looks delicious butter. It wouldn't last long in our house, we are fiends with fresh butter, along with fresh bread that is still warm, so the butter melts through it, oh yummm. Don't you love the way Dexter butter is white? regards Louise

Great blog post Susan, thanks for sharing! I'm a butter fiend...order my butter with a couple pancakes. On the home baked bread lightly toasted so the butter just drenches it. I need to milk a cow!

Louise, I do love that it's white. It will be interesting to see if it changes color in the spring when they're on green grass . . . more yellow, I mean--not green! We have no other homemade butter to compare it to, but we think it's delicious. Next time I'm going to ripen the cream a bit and see how we like it. Gene, I think it's the light. The ones where the bottle or jar was in the window are backlit by the light outside. I did that on purpose because it helps show the cream line, but it makes the milk look gray. Don't worry--it's not! The second photo, the one with the baster on the counter next to the bottle, shows the true color of the milk if you look in the top; the jar reflects the countertop color and makes it look darker on the sides of the jar. The photo of the lid with the cream on it also shows the true color. And on the photo of the ball of butter in the white bowl, that bowl is pure white, but the reflections make it look a bit different. I was doing these photos late in the afternoon, so the light wasn't the best. Next time I'll have to think about doing a bit of enhancing with my iPhoto to make the colors truer. Thanks, Joel. Yes, barely toasted bread! And drenched with butter! I plan to make pancakes Saturday morning with the buttermilk. Come on over!
