S&H Hilltop Sara belonged to us for several years and was our foundation cow. She gave us our sweet Siobhan (by AI to Hillview Redwing) and a lovely AI heifer by Serenity Oak Farm Taco. She was bought back with that heifer by Jeff & Kim Newswanger. They have been visited repeatedly by the "Heifer Fairy" and have too many girls now, so Sara is for sale. Sara is a black, traditional Legacy-type horned cow who is homozygous A2 and who does a beautiful job of birthing, raising and weaning calves without any fuss or problems.
This is about Sara from the Newswanger's website:
"Sara is out of traditional Legacy bloodlines and her grandsire is the popular, high quality bull, Jamie O’Callen. She has very nice conformation, with exceptional body length and depth, and great width and muscling. Her udder is a bit lacking, however, with a sloped floor and poor fore-udder & attachment. She IS trained to milk, though, and does great with it – hand or machine, and I’m glad for the opportunity to milk her again this summer. All in all, she’s a decent little cow, and has produced some very nice calves.
We are going to have to sell Sara again, in order to make room for all the heifers we’ve had born the last 2 years. We are keeping her daughter, Tundra, to take her place in our breeding program. Sara will be sold along with her current steer calf by Rousseau, and will be available to go to a new home in September. We very much want to see her go to somebody breeding Legacy animals who will appreciate & preserve her traditional bloodlines, therefore we will be selling her open & ready to breed to the traditional bull of your choice, rather than bred to one of our polled bulls."
If you are interested in adding an A2 traditional horned Dexter to your herd, the Newswangers' contact info is on the bottom of the page about Sara. There is also more information on her page that I did not put here.
