Here's an account of our first experience using Estrotect patches and the AntelBio milk pregnancy test, ELISA. There are links to the websites in the post. It's been a very positive experience, but I'm going to avoid any more spoilers.

Awesome! I had no idea it was so inexpensive!! I will be ordering my kit TODAY, I have two I suspect are bred with a suspected breeding date on the calendar, but it would be great if I could know for sure! Thanks for another wonderfully informative blog post! Rya

You're welcome, Rya! One amendment, I did find out it's $9.50 for the milk test. (I'll update my blog post.) I had misunderstood when I talked to the lady over the phone and thought the $14 kit covered one test. However, at $23.50, I still can't get a vet here for anywhere near that, nor could he tell me anything as early as 28-35 days post-breeding.

I like your story Susan. I love the patches too. The colours I prefer to use are the bright blue ones, I can see if they have gone off from a distance without traipsing down the paddock.
I have a friend who uses the preg tests, she always has it done if she is selling a cow or heifer as proof of pregnancy. Then if the cow/heifer doesn't produce a calf she has proof that she was in calf at the time of sale.
I use the patches for a pregnancy check. Like you I put the second one on after breeding, and if it doesn't go off she is pregnant. I leave it on for as long as it will stay there, then if she were to slip the calf early and return, say 6 weeks later, the patch would go off.
I just love your blog, it's as if you are talking to the reader in the kitchen over a cup of coffee. Just love it!
