I am located in summerville, sc and have been toying with purchasing a few dexters. We currently have chickens and my husband had a herd of lowline angus growing up. What combination would you recommend getting started? Also what do you currently have available?

Can you email me pictures of the red heifer, her dam and sire please? dean.timr1@gmail.com
What are you raising your Dexters for....meat, milking...pets? It sounds like they have very good dispositions. Do you have any physical stats on your cows/bull? Size, weight, height?
Thanks so much!!
Tim

The only calf I have left is Apollonia. She is the red, polled heifer in the picture on the link above. I just sold the last bull and the black heifer yesterday. She is pha and chondroplasia negative. Tested A2 A1 for the milk line. My Dexters started out as a hobby and they were pets but I have sold a steer for beef and I am getting ready to process another. I have milked them previously and would love to get into that again but my nursing job gets in the way of my fun. My bull has really done a nice job of reproducing so I decided to sell some of the calves from last year. try to assure that all my cattle are friendly, easily handled, and touched everywhere. I have only had one wild child, happened to be my first purchase, and I never thought to ask if they handled their cattle (I just assumed everyone treated them like pets). Well she had never been touched and would aim her horns at us. She did make a beautiful heifer for me and one of the bull calves but still has not settled down so will probable be on the short list for the freezer. My next crop of calves are 4 heifers and a bull. All are black. I will be pulling tail hairs soon for testing. They will begin halter training and manners in about 3 months and then I will list them. My bull is RH Chaney's Colby. He is polled, red, A2A2' and negative for the pha, chondroplasia. He is close to 3 now but is still a big baby. I will try to add his picture to the group. I have 4 polled cows and 6 horned cows at present. A mix of all 3 colors also. plus.google.com/u/0/app/basic/photos/100035545756275201007/album/6089394120778937681
