A friend who is totally new to cattle wants to get a Dexter for her daughter to train and show. At first she thought to get a bottle calf. She has been raising goats and is familiar with bottle feeding. But she would also be open to a young weanling heifer that is docile, people friendly and has been worked in a halter. The bottle calf that she found online is in MO and the breeder is asking $1000 for it, which I find a bit steep considering the expense of bottle feeding (tell me if I'm wrong). Also, the breeder did not present adequate info on the Dexter genetics (the dam and the calf appear to be chondro+). Please let me know if anyone withing a couple of hours drive from Russellville AR 72801 has something that fits the bill. This would be an opportunity for someone who is tired of sharing the milk with the calf!
