Nice photos! So might you just keep Semmy in addition or would she replace one of your cows?

There are still so many variables! We might cull Maxine if she doesn't breed (which she appears to have taken, finally), then Semmy would be a replacement, if she is non-PHA. If she is PHA+, then Semmy will be a rear treat to us in beef, as she will finish faster ( being a chondro-carrier).

Got the UCD results on Semmy and Cary back, both are PHA+. Thus their future lies in the freezer. With the meat market the way it is, this isn't a loss. Our next batch of calves will be predominantly non-PHA, with only 2 cows being carriers. Macy and Jasmine should be due in September, then Claire, and Penny in October-November, then Polly in December, and finally Maxine in January/February.

Well, I'm sorry about that, but at least the beef market is good, so hope that helps with the disappointment.
