My daughter took a few pictures of our cows last night. In this picture (left to right) a 3 month old Galloway x Dexter cross steer, Georgia our yearling Dexter heifer, and a 2 month old Dexter x (Galloway x Angus) heifer. The mom's are less interested in modeling. i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww230/Catherine_Hall_Dal_Nogare/cows/DSC_0828_zpsfl9a9jyg.jpegNow that I've signed in to photo bucket how do I get the picture to display instead of a link.

Great picture! She's a pretty girl.
Sorry I can't help with Photobucket, I don't use it.

That Galloway looks to have put some shoulder and width on the calf. He looks good. Was the dam the galloway or the dexter?

The steer is the calf of my Galloway cow. Sire is a very nice Dexter bull not sure he has been used for crossbreds before. Here the steer is with mom at about three weeks of age. I think this is a particularly nice cow. She came from a commercial organic beef herd. The owner sold his beef herd when his kids left home and now has an organic hay operation. I think both the crossbreds are great calves. They are sold at weaning with our getting half the meat from the steer. Just because we have the yearling heifer I am breeding to a Dexter bull again this year. I'm going to get his genotype done. Next year I'll probably try to get the three cows AI'd with Galloway for the big girls. I'm just now getting our handling equipment set up to manage AI on our property.
