The best thing about these boards is learning about things like this that others have unfortunately gone through. That said, I hope Gracie makes a quick and full recovery!

Do let us know, Gene. I was afraid to look after I saw you had posted, so I know what you mean about being reluctant to ask. When I first read the story about Gracie being born and fighting to live (and by the way, you tell it beautifully!) I could hardly make myself keep reading for fear it was going to be a sad ending.
This is probably not the time to mention it to the family, but when I read the story (before the wooden tongue episode) I was thinking that with those beautiful photos, they should definitely make this into a photo book using Shutterfly or even Blurb. It's such a lovely, inspiring story and Gracie is such a doll that it would make a wonderful book. If you do a book on Blurb, you can make it available for purchase, and that's the kind of story I would definitely buy! Kids and even adults would love it.
Anyway, I'm pulling for Gracie and hoping to hear really good news.
P.S. Did I just make that Blurb add appear up above by mentioning it in this post??? It's scary how the internet knows what we're writing and responds with related ads. I've noticed this on FB, too. Maybe we don't all see the same ads on here, and I usually don't pay any attention to them, but having just written about Blurb, it caught my eye when an ad for it popped up. Well, if anyone's interested, check the ad out! You can make really professional books with it. Shutterfly (come on, Shutterfly, where's the ad?) does a great job, too. I've done several books about our pony and the farm for our grandkids, as well as making a "yearbook" each year with the best 200 or so photos of the farm for my husband's birthday. Blurb has a steeper learning curve and produces a more professional-looking book, but Shutterfly offers more frequent sales and does very nice books (much better than the fish!) I almost always wait for a 50% off sale with Shutterfly; I've never seen Blurb offer more than 25% off.

I was afraid to read what you'd posted, but this is better than I feared. Let them know lots of us are pulling for her!

We constantly send updates back to the "Mommy and Daddy" of our herd, too. They don't live close by, and we've only met in person a few times...but they feel like family, too! They were even going to loan us a bull, Big Red, for 2 years...but after 6 weeks we agreed our current set-up would not work with a bull through the winter, and they came back to collect him. When they brought Big Red out in September, it was the first time they had seen the girls since delivering them in April...and they were so pleased with how well they were doing. For us, it was kinda like praise from a big brother It was also the first opportunity they had had to meet Athena and Anabelle, and we were delighted to present them. We're glad Gracie is doing well, and we can understand how it must feel to receive the updates, pics and videos. Just like grandparents
