I grow barley fodder in my basement using a hydroponic flood tray and nursery flats. I feed my milker about 18-20# a day. I need to expand so that I can start feeding her calf. The goats wont touch it, the chickens love it but barley doesn't have enough protein to cause them to eat less of their bagged feed so they don't get it much. If I could get some organic field peas at a decent price I would sprout those with wheat and barley for the chickens and I think that would be about right for them. You only need to sprout about 3 days for the chickens. The BEST site I have found on the fodder is: pacapride.wordpress.com/2012/04/05/from-seed-to-feed-in-8-days-barley-fodder-sprouting-trials/
