You could do it! I can't imagine a better use for a pair of Dexter oxen than collecting sap...they have a really good strength to size ratio and their small size would get them in and out of the tight spots you must have in the woods. One of my plans for these guys is to use them for cutting and hauling firewood. I am a complete beginner Mapleview, but the boys are really smart and very forgiving and I love training them. It does take time, but what better way to kill an hour or so than hang out with your animals, right? By the way, I would love to come help make syrup!

Oh I wish we all lived closer together!! The other person on here that is training oxen is close to the east coast! oregon is a long ways away, sorry about that. We can send you syrup!! LOL!!
On another note, what do you think about oxen running a sorghum press. We are looking for one and most were mule driven.

Got it Gene!! Thank you so much. That kid is going to be somebody someday. He is really talented. Please tell his Mom she did a great job. I look forward to seeing him on here with a pair of oxen pulling a sled to collect sap. Thank you again. My dad will enjoy reading this.
