In times past (I don't know if they are still available), there were really fancy brass knobs for training Jersey horns. If you want them for protection, I have heard of something called Kongs. I'm not sure but they may be a dog toy. They can be glued on and are protective and colourful ..marion

They do use the Kong dog toy they come in red or blue and you can glue them. They come in different sizes too.

Old time horned Herford breeders used something kinda like you're talking about as weights to make the horns turn down on Herefords, but I don't remember if they screwed on or had some sort of clamp to hold them on. Been a lot of years passed since I saw them.

unless your goal is to make the horns start growing down you dont want something that weighs very much at all. I dont know if the kongs would be to heavy or not.

A Kong the size you would use is not heavy enough to bend a horn. They are made of rubber.
Best of luck Holly

Does anyone have a picture of a Dexter with "kong horns?" I am giggling imagining my horned girls with kongs on the tips! And then when my toy-loving dog sees the kongs...hilarity! My husband has been wanting to put tennis balls on the horn tips...

Julie here is the picture you asked for. I had a Rotti, that was a therapy dog. She loved tennis balls would carry 3 in her mouth at a time. When we would visit the nursing homes the elders had walkers with tennis balls over the bottom so they could slide them along better. Well Emma was always on the look out for them, I was afraid one day the temptation would be too much and she would try to take one, but she never did LOL Holly Attachments:
