Well, I'm back to the school year so it is fall for us. We have not had any real summer here - it has rained almost every day this summer. Our rainfall total for the year is over 53" at this point!
We are really looking forward to the fall calves, almost all of them will have Midas as their sire. This one is a great example of what we are breeding for!

That's a lot of rain Charles! Congratulations on the heifer. Sheril is back to school next week also, and I'm going to miss all her help looking after the herd. We noticed yesterday that we are already seeing some color in the leaves, so it's certainly getting "fall like" here. Have a good calving season!

We have never had a summer like this. We had rainfall every day but 2 in July with a total of over 13" of rain that month. It did not rain yesterday, which was the first dry day in the last 10. Our pastures are incredibly lush and full, but I am tired working in the muck around the barn and other high-use areas.

Ain't it the truth -- wish we could send some of this rain to those who need it!!! My M-I-L in Iowa hasn't seen an inch of rain total for the past 3 months. That's horrible! Congrats on the new heifer calf. She's a little beauty! Can't wait for my girls to start calving - but they'll be winter babies.

Congrats on the heifer. Pretty little thing. Seeing the word "fall" was kind of shocking but I think you are right. It's getting close to that time and there is a definite bite to the air in the mornings.

Thank you. Donna - she might make an appearance at the 2015 AGM in VA! Pretty sure she is short-legged and polled at this point. Mom is our cow Hope, short-legged also. Really nice mom and the calf is extremely calm so far also - really easy to handle.
