We had our annual Ozarks Memories Day parade today and while getting the horses ready I observed Penny nursing. That explains why she looks so good! Macy doesn't look worse for the wear either. I have no bull to breed her to, so it's a good thing that she is lactating in the mean time. Penny is now 8+ months old.

Macy sounds like she is a good cow then, still feeding happily after 8 months. It certainly gives calves a good start in life. Hope you had a fun time at your parade. Did the horses behave? What is it in memory of? We have our Irish Woolfest coming up next weekend in a nearby town that we are going to, they have the "Running of the Lambs" as a parade, they run a flock of sheep through the streets of town just for the fun of it.

Ozark Memories Day celebrates local history, specifically that of the town of Dover. Dover is now but a little town, blink and you'll miss it, but it used to be the county seat. OMD gives us a chance to throw a party with a parade, games for the kids, lots of food and craft vendors. Then there is the chicken dinner and a band concert. It's a full day of fun!

How FUN! Now if you could only train a Dexter to pull a wagon or let you ride it!

SO cool! I sent the Booger videos to a friend on Keeping a Family Cow who is training her freemartin to ride and hopes to teach her to pull.

Weaned Penny tonight, she is 10 months old. Surprisingly, the mama is more stressed about the separation.
