We lost our leased pastures so we need to cut back our herd. We have several cows and heifers for sale. The type of home determines which cattle we will sell. All were just vaccinated in November 2014, dewormed, in good condition, and currently registered. We will only be keeping a few special cows as pets. Look up my name under the ADCA pedigree search and PM me if you are interested in any of our animals. We have a few different lines, but most are traditional. All have horns, but almost all are dehorned. All are halter broke, except the steers.
I'd be happy to send pictures to serious buyers.

I'm so sorry! Is there no chance to lease another pasture? That's such a shame!

It's tough. Thank you for the sympathy. Another factor is actually the pay cut my husband has taken over the last few years. He's a family physician and the government and insurance companies are really nailing doctors. It isn't worth going to med school anymore.

I'm so very sorry, Alicia! Just so you know, I was looking up your animals (not that we can buy any more) and people need to put Alicia Anne Schueler into the ADCA database for your name to come up--or just Schueler. But Alicia Schueler alone won't work, for some strange reason.

Thanks for teh tip. I'll add more info and some pictures when I get a chance. We have to do some more fencing to separate our property from the pastures we were leasing.

I'm sorry you have to make this choice. If any of your cows are suitable as milk cows, you might want to advertise on the keeping the family cow board. They are very attached to their animals and some like Dexter Bulls because they aren't as dangerous as the dairy breeds. In order to weed out dealers you have to have a certain number of posts to post in the auction site, but I'd be glad to put something in there for you.
Unfortunately, things are only going to get worse especially for family practice physicians.

A mention on a milk cow board would be ideal. If you were able to post a notice, is there a safe way to post contact information?

Alicia, here's a thought. Perhaps you could do a post on your blog (which I love, by the way--you have some really great stories on there!) showing photos and giving information about your animals for sale. I would recommend that each animal's name in your post contain a link to their ADCA pedigree. That way people can see it and also get your contact info. If Karen could share a link to the blog on the KFC Auction Barn, people could check out all your registered animals. KFC people love photos, so of course some good photos (especially of any milk cows) would really help. As far as any steers that aren't registered, they could still get your contact info from one of the registered animals.
Also, if you have any good photos of your animals, maybe you could send them to Ray Delaney so that people would see them. For the record, I think April's photo is the best. It's from a very good angle to show her off and, although a little bit dark, shows her nice udder off well. Do think about an ad on the ADCA website. You pay for one animal, but can list others with their registration numbers below it. Especially if you get photos up on the website, this lets people look without pestering you unless they're interested. I hope this helps in some small way. I'm just sick at heart for you. {{ Hugs }}

Alicia, maybe you already did this, but don't forget you also have your Regional page on Facebook, let Steve know and maybe he can mention it for you?
Good luck, I sure hope you can find the buyers you need,

I can post the basic information and have them send me a PM for your contact info or as Susan suggested I can post a link to your blog. Let me know.

I have sold all the cows I needed to. Thank you for the help! Our herd will be smaller (six cattle total, including our bull, Armstrong) and manageable on our own land, instead dependent on leased land. My most heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us. The heifers and cows all went to great homes to be family milk cows. Halter trained Dexters sell quite easily.
