I strongly suggest looking at related individuals also. Don't discount visual inspection. If you looked at every dexter I own and evaluated them on paper and pedigree only, the list would be the opposite of what I would think as far as udder structure, quantity, and quality.

Sure wish I could visit all of you and see your herds! I agree totally the hands on eyes on is certainly more accurate than the paper chase. Your input is really so helpful. Can't thank each of you enough. Bonny, my heifer, will be thanking you too :-).

Hi, I milk 3 of my Dexter cows at this time. I have one cow that out perform the others. RdoubleD Sinclair gives the best milk with the highest butter fat. Sinclair gives 1 gallon (give or take a cup) each milking and the cream she puts out is amazing I get double the cream out of Sinclair then I do from my other girls. Sinclair's blood lines are: Sire, J&M Thoreson #15568 and her Dam, RdoubleD American Rambler. American rambler's sire is Hiyu RamblerII, I think the milky side comes from Sinclair's dam. RdoubleD Allie is one of my milk cows and Allie has the same sires as Sinclair but Allie dose not have the milk quality that Sinclair dose. My other milk cow is Peek a boo her sire is Llanfairs Philbert and her Dam in RdoubleD Allie. Peek is my next best milkier Allie is good too. I will soon be milking Lulu she is a cow I bred out of RdoubleD Allie and my herd bull Elmential Helios #03549 his Sire is Bell Fourche Rousseau #023798 and his Dam Celestial Lurra #018039 I cant weight to see what kind of milk she will give after she calves, I will keep you up dated on how it goes.

You can see Rambler II under photos, hiyu herd 17 years ago. He was two at the time the video was taken. His dam is Rosegay, also under photos, Dexter udders. She was 19 at the time. I'd expect the influence of Lucifer to help with the milk and the udder, too. cheers, c.

Cheddar, for future use, you might like to view the Madrigal video, too. She's the dam of Hiyu Saturn's Warlord, by Saturn of Knotting (same sire as Riverhill Saturn's Galaxy). Warlord semen is available from Paula Maras, OK, check her out on the ADCA site. Paula also has two more Hiyu Rosegay sons, Hiyu Reiver and Brightlea Benjamin. Warlord would give you a good source to multiply great udders and attachment and yield, but from a slightly different line. Cheers, c.
