Here is a very early picture of Maxine, when she was about 4 years old and had her 2nd or 3rd calf at her side. We had just bought her, the move from MO was stressful, the calf had gotten sick and Maxine lost quite a bit of weight. A year or so down the road, Maxine was in better shape. But she was still shallow and didn't have a whole lot of spring of rib unless she was heavy pregnant. With every year Maxine got deeper and more sprung. Here is one of my favorite pictures of her, with her last calf Maxwell. I haven't chondro tested Maxine because there's never been a doubt in my mind that she is a non-carrier. I do however plan on doing so soon, as I plan on having all my cows tested/genotype to allow for obligate non-carrier status of the calves. Maxine is the last on the list.
