So, Maxine had a beautiful black heifer on September 16, and not 3 days later her milk came in. At first it had very little cream. That is common for the beginning of lactation, but she could've also been not letting down completely. Once I separated Maxine from the calf and started to milk full time, the amount of cream started to steadily increase.
Most importantly, Maxine is giving about 3 gallons of milk when milked TAD (twice a day). This is a lot more than what I'd expected. In the past, Maxine was my 2 gallons-tops-per day milker. I know that cow's production increases from first to fifth (or so) lactation and then starts to slowly decline. But also, I've never milked Maxine from Day 3...

We took Maxine's calf away because she's too protective - hard to work with a suspicious, nervous cow. But now all this milk! I think I'll be getting some pigglets. There is a local guy that offered some for $30 a piece, but I wonder if he'd barter for milk?! At $4/gallon, that's 15 gallons for 2 pigs. And guess what, I've got plenty of this dairy currency!
