I LOVE the picture of Gracie peering from between her mom's legs! It makes me smile every time I look at it. Great story.

Ditto, great pictures and story! I never realized until this summer, reading some of your posts that heat was a problem. Our hottest day this summer was 71. yes Farenheit!

Oh wow, that is a great story.
She's looking healthy and strong these days. Looks like she is on the road to being the moo she was always going to be.
Great outcome.

Awww. Poor thing. I've never heard that term either, but it sure sounds painful. Hopefully she will be feeling better soon.

Poor Gracie, what a brave little cow! I hope she'll pull through like she always has.

Woody tongue is a nasty thing for her to have. It can be caused by eating hay with thistles or plants with thorns. It's caused by a nasty bug called Actinobacillus, the tongue ends up really hard, and it is really painful for the cow.
Hope the vet gave her an iv injection of iodine to treat it, it is hard to treat infection and quite resistant. Iodine is the best treatment, can be risky giving it, but worth the risk. Can be life-threatening if the cow can't eat or drink, and you can't get on top of the infection.
She needs some nice soft feed, and some warm water with molasses to encourage her to drink. Hope she comes good soon.
regards Louise
