We have took holsteins and herefords in before and get 32 to 33 percent live weight for the holsteins and around 38 percent on the herefords. This morning we picked up our first dexter who came back at 39 percent. He was to young to go but we needed meat.He weighed 424#'s live weight at 10 months which yielded 166 pounds of meat.I'm thawing out a couple ribeye's now. ;D

Meat looks great. 10 mo is really young, I'm surprised that he was able to put on some inner fat.

100% grass fed. I was surprised at his actual weight the first time one weighed more than the weigh tape said.I'll be back in a while to talk taste.

Meat looks great. I'll have to admit I am a bit jealous. When you calculate your percentages I assume you are calculating packaged meat/live weight; am I correct?

It's nice to be able to just thaw and throw on the grill without marinade or A1 and be that good. ;D

Looks like the steaks were good size.....just right for single serving each. Am I right? Nothing better than a good Dexter steak!

He taped in over 380 in the beginning of February. I've found the feeder steer side of a beef tape to be more accurate at judging their weight. The day I took him in he taped 410 when he went on the scale 424.Usually they weigh less than the tape says for me anyway.I plan to have a scale put in the alleyway by the end of the year to track weekly gain.
