Would anyone have any photos or information on the Dun bull Kahoka Dun Buster (ADCA 4753)? I am purchasing some straws of his for a friend who is wanting to breed dun Dexters and am interested in seeing what I am buying! Does he throw any particular traits etc. There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of his offspring around. Thanks Andrea

Hi Andrea. I can see the photo of him in my mind, but it's been YEARS and I can't remember where it was. A new to Dexters person in Canada decided to corner the market on red, and bought sight unseen a lot of animals from the US, based on pedigree info. Unfortunately in those days a lot of American owners didn't understand about colour and thought that dun was red, hence the 'red' registrations of pretty well all the dun US Dexters.
I think he was fairly short bodied, more square outline than rectangular. I don't remember any particularly bad things about him, but don't know of anything particularly outstanding, either. In those days, the idea of breeding for quality hadn't caught on yet. More of interest was breeding for size using the dwarf gene, and the rest of the animal came along for the ride.
Maybe your firend could keep track of offspring, and you could come back in a few years and let us know the outcomes?
PS I sent Margaret the draught DVD which should have arrived about now. I had a lot of trouble cleaning it up (should have just said no, or bitten the bullet and redone it from scratch)., hope you like it. cheers, c.

Thanks Carol The cow the semen is going into is V E R Y long so being "squarer" shouldn't be a problem. I'll let you know.
