Wow, yeh I like my Dexters. Article was strange though confusing "he" with "heifer." Looks like a steer to me.

Haa haa, I like where it says he enjoys the occasional "Swede" for a treat, He's big enough to eat who ever he wants to, I guess. P.J.

Ha, I don't know what the Chardians would have against Swedes, but perhaps they were really feeding that big guy mangel-wurzels. And..of course, I've hugged my Dexters this morning ;D ..marion

Oh my gosh! Crazy. My husband is English and a swede is some sort of root vegetable, can't remember exactly which one - turnip? parsnip? Something about some of those photos looks a little "Photo-shopped" to me.....hmmmmm. The British press is notorious and the Daily Mail is not exactly the most legit. Don't we have some other Brits on this board? What do you "Pommie's" think?

I was delivering cedar posts to a big Holstein place way back when, and their stanchioned cows were at my head level, and I'm not short. So..I can believe that a steer allowed to live longer than usual could grow that tall. And from this Brit ;D a swede is a rutabaga and a mangel-wurzel is a fodder beet. I though it was kind of amusing that the big steer was living in "Chard", Somerset..all in the family, mangel-wurzel-wise ;D
