I have just become aware of a hot new trend in the online agricultural world, felfies! A felfie is a farmer-selfie. Apparently selfies were the hot trend for 2013, but that is SO last year! This year's trend is felfies, probably invented by a farmer who was spending waaaay too much time with his livestock watching water tanks fill up, so he whipped out his cell phone and had fun. Here are some links to get you inspired: Mashable Huffington Post I just love the second one! Madmoizelle I love the third one! My stupid-phone (because I was tired of my smart-phone being smarter than I am) doesn't take good photos, but I might borrow my daughter's phone today and brave the freezing cold and snow to try it out. Come on, everyone, let's see your best shot at Delfies! (That would be "Dexter selfies," of course.) Thanks, Julie Reimer, for cluing me in to felfies!

Hah! I guess my Avatar pic is a Dexter felfie before I knew what they were! I was going to try to take some more "felfies" today but I was too grumpy and had too many chores to do. Maybe tomorrow...but I agree that we should all post some to cheer up the winter blahs!

If those of us up North took one now all you'd see are our eyes underneath the full ski mask, hat, scarf, heavy winter jacket, etc... Once it gets gets nice and warm (above zero F) I'll take one...lol

The Dexters were too excited about range cubes and a new bale of hay to pose with me this morning, but my horse Sterling obliged! I am not accustomed to seeing frosted eyelashes and whiskers! Attachments:

Okay, all you northern wimps! (Just kidding, I don't blame you!) I've been sick for almost a week, but it's a sunny 28° outside and I miss spending time with my animals, so I'll go first. Here are my best efforts with Siobhan and Sir Loin: You can see more of my attempts at zephyrhillfarm.blogspot.com/2014/01/fun-with-felfies.htmlYes, you were ahead of the trend, Julie! And you're right, we do need a cure for winter blahs. Believe me, hauling hay and warm water when you're cold and sick is definitely a blah moment, but when you see how your animals respond to you doing something like this, you remember why it's worth it.

Great pics, Susan! Glad you are feeling better. Cows are so "nosey!"

Yes they are, Julie. My youngest sister, who has probably never seen a real cow, saw my felfies and asked if the cows' noses are really that big! She completely ignored my suggestion about how kissable they are . . . can't figure out why.

Good one, Gene! Although I expected to see Brenn in your felfie.

Funny! It definitely helps to have an iPhone because you can flip the camera around so you can see your pic set-up on the screen.

That's a great one, Gene--no need to feel inadequate! I love the way your duck is practically leering at the bread! I will say, though, goofy expressions are half the fun!

So I put Trece and his mom and another heavy bred cow together in a temporary paddock today, and of course the calf right away found the only little spot I had yet to mend. So when I grabbed him up, I grabbed the phone and clicked before his mom got too ansey. I like baby bovines...

Great shot Joel! It's nice to see some of the faces behind the names. I'll get one when it thaws out a bit around here!
