Boy Windswept, you are lucky you don't have termites...That is one thing we have down here in Texas...LOTS of them!....Have to use treated wood all the time or it will be gone in a couple of years...Bad thing is , the "TREATED" wood we have to buy now is almost as bad as having just untreated wood...We set up fence seven or eight years ago and we used treated posts...We they are all breaking off at the bottom so we are having to replace them...With the good ole GOV. sticking its' nose into all our lives, putting restrictions on this and that, it's a wonder we can do anything....

Are the termites bigger in Texas?
When I moved here in 1995 I was surprised to find out that it was too cold for termites.
I spent my first 40 years in Bergen County, NJ.
That's only 150 miles from here and in the spring there you see termites if you have them.
On the other hand when it gets real cold here many unwanted things that do live outside in the winter want to come inside........

I hear ya on that one windswepthill....I don't know if the termites are bigger here or not....,I really don't care, I just don't want any of them, big or small......We have a cat and she is suppose to be keeping the mice out in the winter, but she is sloughing off on the job!...We had three mice in the house this winter....But the cat is 12 yrs.old , so maybe she is getting tired of chasing mice....We di have scorpions, but thank GOD we haven't seen many here....Had a tarantula but that's gone somewhere.....I liked him, wish it had stayed....

I'd take a tarantula over a scorpion any day!
