Shamrock Acres is offering for sale Shamrock Zephyr! Zephyr is a 2 year old proven red bull, carries dun. Very calm temperament and halter broke. He has a ring in his nose as well. He is between 44" and 46" tall (when measured last fall he was 44" at the hip). He is an obligate non-carrier of PHA and Chondro. We are located in Western Michigan and have been breeding Dexter cattle since 1987. Trucking is available if needed. For more information about the Shamrock Herd, check out our website at Shamrock Acres Dexter Cattle or or Facebook page at Shamrock Acres Dexter Cattle Facebook Page

Emily,
It seems to be that unless you're marketing him to somebody who is just looking for a bull to breed their cows and they're unfamiliar or don't care about A2 status, most in the registered Dexter bull market are looking for A2/A2 bulls. Many of us don't agree toward the single trait selection, but that's how it is panning out now. So at 2 years old you'll have a decision to make. To throw a bit of information into the mix, when we purchased Wren at the AGM sale along with her bull calf Zeus, we had Wren and Zeus tested and they were both A2/A2, so Loki has at least one copy of A2 that Zephyr could have inherited.

Hans, I agree... unfortunately the push for the A2/A2 has left a lot of good stock out in the weeds. To select purely on a beta casein gene seems, silly to me. Thanks for that bit of information on Wren and Loki! I am going to get testing done on Zephyr.
