I have heard it said that Dexters, being a heritage breed, are predominantly A2/A2.
Recently, I tested Macy and she came back A1/A1. "What are the chances", thought I. The chances are exactly 25%. When you breed two animals who are both A1/A2, you have 1 in 4 chance of producing a A1/A1 offspring.
This is something very elementary that I simply never thought of. But an important thing to keep in mind when making herd selections if A2 status matters to you.
