We have a 3yo cow, she had her first calf last November, and has been kept apart from the bull until about 2 weeks ago for various reasons, mostly to get her on a spring calving schedule. The bull started hounding her on 7/1, and she was bred several times on 7/2...never witnessed the act but stuck out tail, hunched back, and obvious fluid. On 7/3 & 4 the bull left her alone, but this morning the first thing I saw when I looked out the window was her hunched slightly with her tail out, and when I got out to feed I noticed some blood. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks

Joel,
A slight bloody mucus discharge, approximately 36 hours after standing heat, means that she ovulated. This is very normal, whether she is bred by a bull or not.

Thanks Patti. Forgive me in advance for asking again next year... Oh Joel, you are so funny LOL. You need to leave the "oldtimers" disease to us oldies!
