Justus was dropping off the last load of hay for the winter and noticed that Jasmine wasn't with the rest of the cows. He found her with her new baby in the nearby woods. A black little thing, still wet. He didn't bother them long enough to figure out the gender, so that will be my job tomorrow. Silly cow, Jasmine came up with the herd yesterday, when we called them up to the barn for grain and fly pour-on. All my other mamas start their solitary behavior way before the due date. But Jasmine, she's too food oriented to miss a meal for any reason. Justus and I commented on how ready she looked, but neither thought she would drop it in less than 24 hours! On another note, our current bull Belmont joined the herd on November 20th last year, which means that Jasmine was bred within a week or two of his arrival. Pictures tomorrow after work, weather permitting.

It's a girl! She will have a J-name, but no ideas yet.

Nice calf, congratulations Olga! We will have a fall calf for the first time here...in about a month. The reason being that I had an open heifer this past January when our Calum, a cousin of you Belmont, arrived. I think he settled her within 48 hours of stepping off the trailer. Can't wait to see it. Good boy!

Just 10 months later, Jasmine is thinking of having another baby. We will see what morning brings!

Olga, no pic? If an ex-member removed all his posts, wouldn't that have removed all his pics, too, and wouldn't that make room for pics again?
good going, Jasmine.

Olga , your photos aren't showing up for me. Just for informational purposes for new members, we can post photos using imgur, photobucket, tinypic or any other photo hosting site. ( I think it was the attachments that were used up. That was, indeed, the easiest way to post photos, but these other photo hosting sites work well.) Occasionally, since Photobucket recycles their urls, you'll see a racy photo (a recycled one!) instead of a cow, but that just keeps things interesting!

Justus was the first to see the baby, so he is claiming the right to name her. He has decided on Jamie. Maxine, on left, our 2nd cow. She turns 15 years old this August. Next to her is Penny, one of my current favorites, 2 and a half years old. She's Maxine's granddaughter. Both are expecting... and very hot. M Alie, one of Maxine's daughters. She is 9 years old. She is part of the small herd for sale that I'm advertising for Sam Headings. M Alie's baby from this April. Just because she's cute.

I see pictures! Those horns are really pretty. Is Maxine chondro carrier? Such a difference in her and her daughter.
