Odd theory, but Spanish fighting bulls are pretty non-specific as a breed. Not sure what they looked like in 1500s (Spanish Armada shipwrecked in Ireland). I could see how plausible it would be for Spanish cattle to mix with Irish animals and run feral. Not sure if the Spanish actually had cattle, or what breed of cattle, for that matter, would have been aboard ships. Assateague ponies are really descended from Spanish ships, so why not?

If it's true, they would be diluted quite a bit by Irish native breeds and tamed down in temperament. I like how the Irish video talks about so many old timers had a little Dexter.
