We are not currently looking to buy, but I am trying to get an idea of where Dexter-specific ranches and farms are located, so I can see which ones are close enough to go look and choose when we ARE ready to buy. I have noticed that many if not most sellers do not give a location, sometimes only an email address.
Would it be better for sellers and breeders to at least give a general area of the state in which they are located? For example, I know I will not go to certain states - too far - to look at an animal, but I will go to ones that are close by (350 mi radius). While other folks may have other criteria as to how far they will go, knowing at least an approximate location would be very helpful I think. (I'm not asking for your street addy or your mom's maiden name to hunt you down - but it would be nice to know early on if the Dexters I so admire are near here - or 2000 miles away! ;D )

I know your frustration but this is what I did. I went to the two Dexter associations and looked up members which gives address' and often contact information. I started with the closest owners of Dexters and was able to visit their farms. I also found farm web sites that again gave contact information in order to visit and then eventually to buy. Can I add though that even when a person joins this forum they can enter locality for everyone to see as to approximately where they are located even if it just a zone. I see you didn't do that so I have no idea where you are from.
