Anyone have one?
We do and I hate the thing...just wondering if anyone has had any experience.
I have Coburn that I bought from Hamby Dairy Supply a year ago
What I do not like is that the cream is soooo thick once you refrigerate it you need a spoon to get it out
The motor blows air through the cream and it smells like electric milk and tastes like it smells...aaaagh so much money, and I ended up using a tea jug with a spigot worked faster, little clean up no funny taste.
I have called coburn and they even sent me a new electric base thinking the the motor in mine was bad..no change

If yours is the little electric model, I have one just like it. I have never noticed any smell or off taste in my cream. The cream is very thick, and I find no way of adjusting that. I can't find a cream screw on mine. I do like my little separator as it has fewer disks to clean than the older models. Let us know if the new base helps out. I like Hambys. Paul is located in my home state of MO, I think.

I was wondering about that. They didn't mention a cream screw in their specs. Has anyone tried the Coburn hand-cranked model? I had a really neat little DeLaval Junior when I had goats (sold it for $25 aaarrrhhhhhhhhh) , even had the original paint and decal and bell on the handle. The discs were tinned and worn enough that no matter how I washed/dried it, the cream tasted metallic. I'm in the market for a table model with stainless steel discs. I see there is a plastic model out there but I wonder how long they last or how well they work..marion

Here are some suggestions from the manual for the electric Coburn separator: 2. Some breeds such as Jerseys have very high butterfat and will give very thick cream. To achieve thinner cream, some users have luck with removing one of the separating disks. This restricts the separating function very slightly and results in thinner cream. 3. Make sure the cream regulating screw is not damaged or loose. The screw is found at the top of the bowl as shown below. ( Mine doesn't seem to have a cream screw.) www.coburn.com/ImageLibrary/Public/PDFs/MC60Instr.pdf
