You'll have to excuse the poopy field. They have been hanging out next to the hay ring, and haven't had a chance to shovel poop in a few days =

My guess would be in over a month. The vulva isn't very loose yet. It usually starts to jiggle like jello and stick way out, showing lots of edema. Then also, she'll have stringy discharge, although that's not a sure thing. Also, you can see that the udder isn't very swallen either and the teets aren't shooting out in all directions. Keep us picture-updated on developments, please.

Kimberly, do you have any pictures of her udder? How many calves has she had before. She doesn't look to swollen in her vulva area. Sometimes however these cows can fool ya, and pop the little ones out when your least expecting it. Or keep you waiting for what seems like an eternity.

Nope, not gonna happen anytime soon.........she will get a lot "looser" in the vulva area first, it will juggle when she moves, she is still way too tight.

Well, I'm frustrated, cause I was told when we bought her she was due in Nov. BUt I'm also happy cause we are getting a new barn up with a milking room and I'm hoping to have that finished before she calves. It's the waiting that just gets to you! Thanks for the thoughts!

Hi Kimberly,
Just a quick question, Lana shows up as being born in 4/4/03. She should have had several calves by now. None or her offspring have been registered. Were they steers, or did the people not want to register anything. She has had calves hasn't she?

Yes, she has had 4 calves. I'm not sure why they are not registered. I did talk to one of the ladies that bought one of her heifers. And I know last year she had a bull calf. He was still with her the first time we visited. Her bag is about half way full. It has definitely gotten bigger since when we got her, but not at all what I would call full. I was told she milked appx 1.5 Gallons a day share milking with her calf, so I would suspect a pretty good sized bag when she's ready to calf.
