My nephew has a Dexter heifer that has a wart problem!! He got her in June and the man where she came from said she had had 2 shots for warts...well, they kept getting worse!! 2 weeks ago I took her to the vet and he cut off 20-30 plus another shot!!! They still won't go away--I think she is getting more!! I need help!!

Yeh, my experience is that they fall off by themselves.

I have gone through this a couple of years ago, particularly with one cow. Your vet is doing the right thing.

How long will it take for them to go away? She has what looks like jillions on her neck! Wyatt was going to show her at the MDBA show but we can't get rid of them!!

One of our young bulls had "jillions" of warts on him, but they too fell off within a year. My vet told me "I can sell you a shot, and the warts will start to fall off in about 3 months time. If you don't give it a shot, the warts will start to fall off in about 3 months time. Your choice."

I was searching around on warts on cattle and came across some info about Dolomite. It stated that 2 Tbl. a day in feed for 2 weeks would start the warts falling off in 10-14 days. Well, after searching around health food stores I am trying it. Anybody heard of this? The info said cattle with a magnesium deficiency had trouble getting rid of warts. I guess we will see!! I will be the test case!! (or my nephews heifer will be)

That is very interesting, Rhonda! I give my Lana Dolomite on her food each day. I've never had warts though. I will be following your results!

It didn't work--nothing did. My nephew had received her through the MDBA heifer project, the man who donated her took her back and Jim and Linda Smith have donated him a new heifer!!
