Hello all! The last week I noticed that my milker had a small bump in her back quarter teat. It wasn't very big, smaller than a BB, and it was hard (not fluid filled) and didn't seem to be very far under the skin (maybe a couple of layers down). It didn't seem to hurt her so I thought maybe she got poked by something while grazing. I am worried now as she has developed about four more of these bumps in the same teat and then about five more in another. I hand milk her twice daily and I completely strip her out.
Anyone know what this could be? They don't seem to hurt her but I am getting pretty worried as more develop (BTW the first one is only barley notable, more flattened like scar tissue under the skin that was massaged down).
ANY info would be great! Thanks!
UPDATE: My mom said she forgot to tell me this morning that when she milked that the bumps now were almost on the skin, almost like a pimple but not quite.

Sounds like pusedo cowpox to me.
I had this go through my cows awhile back. Everyone got little bumps that popped up and then scabbed over. Made milking a little unpleasant for a couple of days, but within a week it was healed up and haven't had a problem since. I sprayed the udders I was not milking with wound spray, just to make sure no infection got in the sores. With the cow I was milking, I washed her uder before milking, then swabbed hydrogen peroxide on and let that sit for a minute, then dried and milked. After I milked I put some salve on her teats to sooth. She was completely healed up within the week.
Hope this helps some!

Thanks for the replies. It sounds like it could be it although her bumps aren't red. They are the same color as the skin and actually you really can't see them unless you really look.
Thanks again for the info!

My bunps weren't red either. They just popped up, scabbed over, and fell off. =)
