Please, if you have photos of the following, and you don't mind having them used in a presentation at the fair, please post your picture, your name, farm name and animal's name so I can give proper credit. Please don't post any pictures on this thread that you would not like me to use. If you prefer, PM me and I will send you my email address. Thank you very kindly! I need good examples of the following:
-short-legged bull -short-legged cow with short-legged calf -person with a short-legged calf (to show relative size) -polled bull -horned bull -red cow -finished steer -oxen hitched up -historical pictures of Dexters in Ireland -historical pictures of Dexters coming to America If any of the above pictures are of animals in a show, please include show name, class, and year. Thank you!

Yearling steer (non-dwarf), sired by Magician from a Galaxy dam. Sorry about the scrap steel in the pic. - I was out there with the camera after a microburst demolished half of the barn roof

Wow! Great pictures, guys! I'll take a picture of the finished display and post it here. Is Trillium Cluny still available AI?

While most of the pictures are nice, there is one comment I would like to make concerning genebo's remarks: "Take a close look at the hind quarters on Odetta of Sussex at the same time you look at her udder and teats. That is a truly dual purpose cow. Beefy and milky at the same time. Pixie is just as nice". The ADCA has a classification document you can look at in reference to what a good udder should look like. I've also attached a link that also might be helpful. beef.unl.edu/learning/udder_score.shtmlShe just might be an old gal, however my preference when having a display with photos of Dexter cattle as representative of the breed would be to leave this picture off. I do not mean to offend anyone, this is just my opinion. Barb

Barb Ms. Netti, I was not aware that this thread was intended as a conformation critique; your comments were unsolicited and, quite frankly, rude. I posted photos in response to a request -- it is of little consequence to me if “littlecowfl” uses them; she is free to do so if she wishes. However, you took it upon yourself to ignite controversy by taking exception to “genebo’s” comments about Olde Towne Farm animals in this thread. Had you started a separate thread about ideal udders, I’d have no problems, but to impose your preferences here was uncalled for. You may not have intended “to offend anyone,” but alas, you did – ME! I doubt you would have been quite so free with your comments if the “old gal” were red and had no horns – ahh, but then, I suppose, she would have been named Reba. Gale, my intention was not meant to be rude, my apologies to you and those that took it that way. However, I still stand by my comment. If littlecow is looking for pictures the classification program pictures are great ones to use.
I'm not sure of the cows age which might be a contributing factor, if little cow denotes the age of the cow on the picture and states 15 years or whatever her age is and "still going strong", that would fit the picture better.
The color or horn status had nothing to do with my comments. So please don't go there.

Almost done! I couldn't use some of the pictures because of how they turned out on my printer, but most look great! Thanks, again to all! It looks like I'll need both the classification photos as well as the ones of cow and calf. Odetta is 15 years old with a new calf? That will fascinate some conventional cattleman who cull long before a cow reaches her teens. ;D

Hi Littlecow, I'm not sure of the age of Odessa that was just a guess.

Gene, I need the name of the short-legged cow and calf in your photo. I almost remember her name...
Here is a copy of photo credits, thus far. I found it much easier to number the photos and provide photo credits at the end. If you would like anything changed, please let me know because I still have time. Everything is written and set up, I just need to finish the credits and laminate.
