Real quick question here, has anyone ever used Ron Keener for transporting their animals? Please e-mail me privately either on this forum or on : dljdexterladt14@gmail.com I am just thinking of using him, not sure yet. It would be for a 1300 mile trip.....Any comments???.........Thanks ........Donna

donna, I don't know about Keener, but if you are thinking of transport, it may help to know there is another custom hauler out there, for you to compare with. Ziegler does hauling, usually horses, but he's taken cattle for patti, and he picked up a bull at the WA state border and took him to OK and everything went well. fyi. c.

Thanks cddexter, I called Zeigler one time and the guy was very snotty and errogant to me. Acted like he didn't have time for me. That is the main reason I didn't call or inquire with them. I have heard a lot on Ron Keener ,so I wanted some opinions from here......We may have to go get this bull ourselves......Thanks Donna

Hi Donna, We've used Zeigler Livestock Transport exclusively for the past 4 years -- and they have always done a great job for us. Here is their webpage: www.zeiglerlivestocktransport.com/ They take excellent care of the animals while they are in transit. Their trucks and trailers are always well maintained and very clean -- and there is complete separation between each stall on the trailer. Their trailers even have 10' x 7' box stalls for transporting mature bulls or cow/calf pairs in comfort. The animals are properly bedded in clean bedding material. They stop to feed and water the animals every 4 hours. They call before they arrive to pick up the animals, they call while they are in transit to give updates, and they call before they make the delivery. They can go coast to coast and from the Canadian border to the Mexican border. I've shipped all over the United States with these guys and never had a single mishap. I recommend them to anyone that needs to ship livestock long distances. They aren't cheap, but we trust them to do the job right and that's worth a lot to us. Patti

I've never used Zeigler but have heard great things about him. They have gone so far as to milk cows that need to be milked on the trip.
On the other hand I have used Keener and would not recommend him. My animals came off the trailer in bad condition and filthy dirty. Lots of manure on the floor plus what looked like metal staves were there also.

We used Ziegler when we bought our herd bull from Gladhour Farm in Missouri and had him transported to our place in South Central Texas. We found them very easy to work with, and he arrived in great condition. We'd definitely use them again.

We shipped a horse from our farm here in Missouri to Central Florida. We used Ziegler and were satisfied with him. His trailer was large and heavy duty but not a new one. He may have other trailers though. I thought he was very personable. He let the horses out half way through the trip and cleaned the trailer, let the horses stretch their legs and roll. Horse arrived in good shape. LizMO

Just want to say thank you to all whoanswered. I have e-mailed Zeigler to check on a price. Depending on what he says, I will keep looking for a way to get our bull calf home. I may ask on the net to see if anyone is coming this way ( a private person) I am really not to fond of having to wait on a commercial hauler but I may HAVE to. We will see. Tomorrow I may check with one of our neighbors, I just found out he hauls cattle but I don't know how far.....Hope he will do it since he is only a few miles down the road! Seem sfunny there are only two commercial haulers out there? I have not seen anyone else advertize? Well anyway, thank you all again for your help.......I will let you know what happens........Donna

Donna, Here is a link to Edgar Ranch Livestock Transport: edgarsheepandgoats.com/transportation.html I haven't used them, but if Zeigler couldn't do a delivery for me, then this is who I would check with next. Patti

Donna - where does the animal need to go to/from? You might find someone heading in the general direction.

You could also try Mari Whorley @ www.worleyshauling.com/I know Mari through horse list I am on, and a friend had her stallion shipped through them. I have heard nothing but good- they do livestock as well as horses.
