12 days after calving cow started with some clear discharge with some blood in it. I thought at first it was heat right on time but the bull paid no attention to her. Now last night I noticed a small 6" puddle on the barn floor it was red but was mostly thick mucus. It did not smell or look like pus so I dont believe there is any infection. She did clean out I think completely with in a couple of hours of calving. May be this is normal I always calve in the spring out on pasture so it is unlikely I would have ever seen this before. With the weather here now they are spending a lot of time in the barn so maybe I am just now noticing something that has always happened.

Mike,
This is very normal. The bloody mucous discharge usually is seen 10 to 12 days after calving. It's easy to miss it, especially on black cows.
