The A2 test can be done with a minimum of effort. You can use Texas A&M through the ADCA or you can use University of California - Davis. The sample required is tail hairs so it is easy to collect the sample. Once you fill out the forms, collect the sample, and mail it to the lab you should get results within a couple of weeks. If you have specific questions about how to do this, let me know and I will be happy to walk you through the process regardless of which lab you choose to perform the test.

Thank you... Should I test the mom and the new baby? Or just one or the other? Do I want/need all the tests?

The most important ones are Chondro and PHA. But if Sire and dam have been tested free of one or both then there is no need to test for them. Color is just nice to know unless you want to register one as red it has to be tested to confirm. I have only tested 2 for color because I thought there might be a slim chance they carried red, they did not.

So is going through Legacy the lowest price way to get this test done? I have a bull calf I want to test.

There are a couple good reasons for using Legacy.
Number one, two, and three. SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE YOU are important and the service and attention you receive proves it!
Also, should you decide to DNA genotype in the future your sample will be archived and can be used for additonal tests . . AND . .. . once genotyped your Dexter becomes REGISTERED in the Legacy Dexter Cattle Genotype database. .. at no additional charge, the FIRST and ONLY one of it's kind in the world, and one of only two registering entities that require DNA genotypes.
You will NOT be disappointed with Legacy.
