We've used many, and by far the best is actually not for cattle at all. It's called a "FURminator", we have two of these that are for large size dogs. Ours is the old style that does not have a bush button to release the hair, we just use our hands. www.furminator.com/videos (go to the video using one on a horse). They are expensive, don't settle for all the imitations out there they don't work as well. Barb

After we first purchased the orchard, we had auto-groomers on the cows. The orchard's owners had planted multi-flora roses around the perimeter to keep out poachers (if you're not familiar with them, they have hooked thorns all along the stems and grow in bushes and vines). The problem was, when they abandoned the orchard, the roses took over, covering not only the ground but climbing up the apple trees as well. Just by walking around in the orchard, the cows would bash through the bushes and vines and not even flinch, while if I did that you could hear my screams of pain for miles around I don't advocate planting these awful plants to groom your cows, but I can say they never looked better than the first couple of years that we had them here!

The best thing for winter hair removal is the "Furminator" I have one that I have used for my horses and it works great on the cows. I believe it is the 5 inch size. Yes, it is expensive but it really works and is worth the price. LizMo
