;D I am doing a happy dance. Thank you Charles Townson (Beaver Tree Farm) for allowing my cow to be bred to your sire, Midas. He has thrown me a beautiful dunn heifer. She calved day 285 which made me a tad nervous! She was pacing in the pasture around 7:30 and had her by 8:30 beautiful delivery! It has been so rainy out, so when we got back from church...I scopped her up and put them both up in the barn in a stall to dry off. She was shivering so much.I will tell you that calf has so much life in her already....Jumping and bucking and nursing...I'm on cloud 9 right now ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Alright - congratulations! Pictures please when you dry out. We have had about 4" of rain today like you - lots of green grass along with the water. I had to move out 6 day old calf into the barn today too as she was shivering in this cold rain. Let us know if we can help in any way.

I think she is red, not dun, based on the picture.

Charles! She just looks so different from the last little guy who was so bright red from birth. I'm o.k. with it tho As long as she does not sprout man parts were good

She looks very similar to the one we had born here last week. Sometimes it is hard to tell from a photo, but she sure looks red to me. Have you been able to determine if she is polled?

How do I do that? I have felt her head and she has nothing. She was well cooked being so late so you would think something would be there, but she is smooth as a baby's bottom?

Sounds like a good chance she is indeed polled. Feel for the horn buds just above the ears - they are little more on the side of the head than the top of the head. Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks to feel them, particularly on heifers, but if her head is completely smooth there is a great chance she is polled! Take a look at the red heifer on our home page and compare the color - they are almost identical. www.beavertreefarm.com
