My cow is such a sweetie

I just have to say again...

we just enjoy her so much! She's so gentle and good natured. She loves to be scratched on the head and neck. When she's out of food while Im milking her, if dh will stand there and scratch her neck and rub her head she will just stand there with her head almost to the ground, soaking up the attention.

She hates to be brushed, but she loves to be petted and scratched. She loves her cubes and she loves sweet feed.... and she's just the sweetest girl you'd ever dream of!

Her calf is sweet too... but UGH, the headbutting with those horns She just needs more training... I know, and she, too, will be a sweetie like her mama!

Everytime I get frustrated with the low milk production (time to rebreed for sure) and I start talking "we should get a jersey" dh reminds me how lucky we are that Spring is such a good natured animal and that we could never get rid of her!

Try explaining it to a person who has never kept a Dexter! These cows are really special and wind their way right around your heart. I hope you are able to get her bred soon. Are you going to AI? Have you been able to figure out her heat cycle? ..marion

I agree, these little cows have great personalities. I need a big sign that says I LOVE MY DEXTERS.

Thanks for asking Marion... no, we havent figured when she is cycling.. I think we're just going to take her to a friend who recently got a dun Dexter bull that was being offered (Lot).. and they just moved to Caldwell KS which is about 25 miles from us.
