...noticed that on Mr. Frys website he now has a link for A2 Testing that doesn't appear to be the A2 Corp. I have no clue about this one. "A2 Milk Testing: Dr. Richard Olree is in private practice and has been for over 29 years. With Charles Walters he wrote the book “Minerals for the Genetic Code”. Dr. Olree has established a company called ‘A1A2 Genetic Testing Services’. For further reading on research of the A1 milk science you can go to his web site. You can also download instructions on how to test your cows for the A1 A2 gene variation. Dr. Olree can be contacted at 989-742-2561 or you can write to Dr. Olree at the A1A2 Gene Testing Services, PO Box 550, Hillman, Michigan, 49746. edited to ad the link to the testing service emineral.info/___________________________________________________________________________________________________ B. Everything I read on that website seems referenced to the book, " Devil in the Milk". I also didn't see ( but I might have missed it) that the tests were being conducted in a private lab).
At any rate, why would someone pay $35.00 to have the tests done when Legacy offers the same for $20.00 or they can use affiliated testing through Legacy direct with UCD for the same price?
I didn't see anything on this website that wasn't "old news". And except for the Kelp information ( which is also old news) often discussed/debated information on Dexter chat groups.

I see he's in our neck of the Michigan woods...but I agree on why would you test somewhere other than where your other tail hairs are being used for genotyping, color, etc...as well as the cost difference.

Judy, it doesn't have anything to do with the money, just noticed another lab doing the testing. Also it doesn't mention anything about who owns the rights to the test. I know that UCD has this disclaimer on their website.
"For more information about A2 Corporation and A2 Milk®, visit the A2 Corporation Website
As a licensed laboratory, VGL is required to send A2 Corporation Limited a copy of all A2 Gene Tests and to disclose the following:
VGL is an A2 Corporation Limited (A2C) accredited and registered A2 Gene Tester. A2 Gene Tests conform to the specification and are validated to the standards of A2C.
A2C will only access information relating to you and your animals from testing carried out by the VGL for the purpose of contacting you about potential milk supply and to maintain a register of A2 gene tested animals.
A2C owns various intellectual property rights (including patent rights, trade marks, and technical and commercial know how) relating to the commercial production and sale of a2™ branded milk or milk with reduced beta casein A1.
It is possible that commercial use of test results may fall within the scope of such intellectual property rights, so if you intend to form a herd of animals used to produce a2™ branded milk or milk with reduced beta casein A1 on a commercial scale, you should contact A2C for more information"
I didn't see any disclaimer on the other on this website. It might just be that they are riding on the coattails of the A2 corp. I have no clue. With that being said it might make a difference to some on who actually owns the rights to the test. It could be a BIG benefit to some dairies that don't want to hand off a percentage of their sales to the A2 Corp.

Genebo, please reread my post before jumping to conclusions. Did I mention anywhere that I will be using this lab? It is just another possible option for some. Nothing more nothing less. The testing was mentioned more out of curiosity because they did not have any disclaimers on it. I have no idea why Mr. Fry has a link to this testing as opposed to using other testing facilities.
Barb
Edited to add: I have my own account with UCD and have used them for A2 and polled testing. My animals were probably very close to being the first few Dexters tested for the polled gene with them.

Hey, I just thought of a reason someone might have for going that way: Judy had nothing to do with it. That fact alone might make all the extra expense and inconvenience worth it for a dedicated Judy-basher. Uncalled for comment from a another dedicated basher.
