Louise I , we do, what feels right for us and we also respect others who do things differently. Its like raising children, we all do that in our own unique ways and no one parent is right or wrong.
And questioning things, discussing things is not creating an argument or stating that I do it better!
What do you expect me to do, just accept without thought, reasoning or understanding what I am TOLD?
Discussions about the different aspects of a topic are fruitful in providing information and also in the understanding. Discussions allow one to work things out for themselves, that fits with how they feel and what they feel is comfortable for them, and them alone.
I enjoy everyone’s points of view on this forum because I get reasons, explanations, personal experiences from which I am able to take away and think about and talk to the OH about.
And Lousie back off right now about Ryan. I have told you this before.
That “young teenage boy” was a natural with his cattle. I'd go as far as calling him the Bovine Whisperer and he had been in cattle for years, before primary school so I don’t know where you get off referring to him as inexperienced.
Ryan had the upmost respect for his cows, he was calm and confident around each and every single one of them, and they had great respect for him. You could see the respect oozing out of their coats for him.
His Dexters are calm, bomb-proof and settled into our place faster than any of the others we have purchased. His Dexters instantly took to us as if we had raised them.
And we are so d**n proud to have been able to purchase his stock and to be able to still receive advice and assistance from him even though he is now in another bovine breed. He is helping us to continue what he had started.
So I wont, under any circumstance, hear one word against him, not then, not now, not ever!
And the incident you are referring too.
Well considering you couldn’t shut up long enough to listen to the whole story then before jumping down not only my throat but that of another Dexter owner, instead instantly laying blame at the breeder "the young teenage boy’s” feet, lets see if you will take the time to now read the story (and not scan it)
Our GRIPE was with DCAI for NOT having the decency to inform us of an issue, a mistake they had made not once, but twice, but instead choosing to just deregister the boys without notice or assistance because their PHA status was unknown.
I discovered the de-registration by accident when looking up a birth date for one of our pedigrees online.
So you bet I kicked up a stink about it, we were angry that there was no notice, no email, no letter even though we were in constant communications with DCAI at the time.
And only when we did kick up a stink did DCAI decide to re-registered but have the boys status as ‘inactive’.
But there was still no letter, no communication of any description, no explanation as to how best to fix this mess...........................THAT and ONLY THAT is the sole reason why we were really upset and vocal about it.
And we were more upset when we were told we owned two of the eight bulls who were mistakenly allowed registration without a PHA status.
DCAI should have informed us that they had made the mistakes and then they should have provided advice on how to rectify it.
DCAI‘s FIRST Stuff up:
1. Issuing the said pedigree papers to the breeder without the PHA status.
DCAI’s SECOND Stuff up:
2. Transferring said papers into our name and sent them to us, again without the PHA status.
DCAI’s THIRD Stuff up:
3. Deregistering the boys without notice to the registered owners.
ONLY, and only when Margaret Weir became involved did we get any help or assistance.
Margaret gave a lot of her own time with emails to us and phone calls reassuring us and advising us on how to get a solution to the issue. She didn’t criticise anyone about the issue, she didn’t apply blame to anyone. She was fantastic and I couldn’t thank her enough.
Margaret Rawlings was also extremely helpful with advice at the time – Margaret didn’t apply blame or criticise anyone either instead explained how the whole upsetting situation had come about and how it could be resolved quickly.
No one else did!!
These two women took it upon themselves to assist, provide advice and help newly registered members of the DCAI to fix a problem created by DCAI in the first place.
And I now make the assumption that DCAI has learnt from that experience since we received an email, followed by an official letter re the issue with our stud name and having to change it 10 months after it was approved.
The communication outlined how the issue came about, a phone number should we wish to discuss this further, and the solution outlined in a clear and easily understood manner.
This should have happened with the boys then there wouldn’t have been a problem with upset and very vocal members.
And I never said anything about discovering PHA or chondro on our drive home in that post – I SAID that I wasn’t aware CHONDRO was LETHAL until I read this terminology on our drive home with a stock trailer full of carriers and how I had to read further to understand that only homozygous chondro was LETHAL…………………………….check my post again!
Congratulations Lousie – consider your job now done here, and in front of the international dexter community to boot. I was wondering how long it would take you to continue with this crap.
Now let me be clear…….this is the end of this type of “conversation” between us here or in any other topic or forum.
I would like to apologise to laurenholbrook who asked a great question and received some great responses only to have this type of post at the end of it all. Sorry
