Frank and Sassy need to have a birthday party next year.... She was born May 11. I assume you tested him. Our "carrier" calf, last year, didn't grow nearly that fast.....Sassy is 260+, but I'm sure she is a non carrier. Remember, it takes over a gallon of milk per pound of gain on a calf....do the math.... his Momma is a good milker. He looks good.

Thanks guys. This seasons calves are our first dexter calves and we are so pleased with them. They are the first to carry our name Knobley Mountain Dexters. It has been alot of hard work making new pastures and building the new barn but it is sooo worth it.
Mike, You have a nice lookin heifer there, and I like her name. We didn't test Frank for chondro because we plan to steer him in a few wks when the weather cools. Now he is turning out so well and I'm wondering. He fits the bill of a carrier up and down. Short legs, neck, nose. He is built totally different from our others. They keep getting taller, and he just keeps getting wider. My Dad calls his mama "wide load" and he is following right in her footsteps. If it wasn't for our shortie girls I'd consider keeping him as our herd bull.
The decision isn't set yet. If anyone is interested in him let me know and I'll have him registered and tested. He is very sweet and his mother has a great udder. The A2/A2 is a bonus.
And Gene, yes he does. If we do end up steering him he should make us some of those nice dexter steaks you keep posting. They look so good and I have been so jealous!!
ssrdex, What a difference a year makes. This time last year we didn't have a speck of green anywhere. But we have been so lucky this year. It has been beautiful. We seem to be in between the areas that have had too much rain and the drought areas. Hopefully things will turn around for you all soon and this crazy weather will stop.
