I thought I would share with you our latest calf sired by Belle Fourche Clay and out of Rawlings Emerald Skye. I do not ususally get so impressed by newly born calves, but this one is special. He has such thickness and width, particularly in the backend - hip, thurl, pin. My thanks to Gabriella Nanci for allowing us to use her wonderful genetics, I feel very honoured. I can't wait for the other girls to calve now to see what we get!! Let me know what you think, he is only three hours old in these pictures.

Hi Margaret, he looks good. He's got great depth as well already and not that long legged look, he's standing nice and wide between the hocks too.His mother is a nice cow, great depth and looks to have a nice udder. I can't wait to use some of the semen, I just never seem to be home when they are in heat, the joys of trying to live in 2 different places at the same time. Is his mum E+E+? Do you know what Clay's colour genotype is? You'd have to be happy with this one, he'll be a keeper. regards Louise

Hi again, I just looked up "Skye's" breeding, you can see she is by "Blueprint", and L Finnegan and C. Outlaw on the other side, nicely linebred to Clay. regards Louise

Congratulations Margaret It's good to see what Clay can throw. I have some of Clay’s semen also, except it is sexed. Was the semen you used from Clay sexed semen and you just got a bull calf out of it?

Hi Barb No the Clay semen was not sexed. I am very thankful to have got a bull, which if what I was hoping for. Eight more babies by Clay due over the next few months, can't wait to see what the calves are like.

Wow what a chunky monkey.... he is just beautiful. I too have Gabriella's Dexters and there is a very noticeable difference in her calves and those from other Dexters that I have. Congratulations. I love Clay.

Just a quick update, two more calves by BF Clay, one red bull out of Rawlings Fine Wine and a black heifer out of Rawlings Granita. I am away from the farm at the moment, but my husband reckons they are as good as the first calf. It is good to have something to look forward to seeing when I get home.
From our natural service it has been a run of heifers, with four born in the last couple of days. It is interesting from the AI that the cows were inseminated at the end of their cycles and two have bulls and one heifer.

Just another update, we have two calves by Mrald Overture. One polled red bull who looks very thick and solid and a dun heifer born yesterday. After emails from Gabriella she thinks the heifer is the only one by Overture born outside the US. I feel very privileged especially as the dun has come five generations on the dam's side. The bull will be named Jackpot and the heifer will be Jorja Brown.
We also have another bull by BF Clay who looks very nice too. He will be named Jackson.
So from the AI done at the end of the cows cycles we have 4 bulls and 3 heifers, our total count so far is 18 heifers and 7 bulls with those numbers including the AI and the rest being natural Service.

Congratulation on those wonderful babies. Hoping to see some pictures of the new wee ones soon. I have 2 Belle Fourche babies due in Jan & Feb. We have been very happy with what we have seen so far.
