Here are Redbug and Bennan, two of our short-legged heifers that should calve any day now!

They are looking well Charles. Redbug looks as if she will have a nice well attached udder. Is Bennan closer to calving than Redbug? regards Louise

They are both about the same, Bennan has more milk in the udder right now. Both have excellent udder attachments. We can't wait to see their calves!

Bennan was first, delivering a black heifer calf this morning! I had to assist a little with the birth to get the calf's head clear; otherwise a very quick and easy delivery. Here she is:

Mom and baby are doing great; I just took Bennan a bucket of water as she does not want to leave the calf to get water. They have been outside on a beautiful fall day here. The baby will be named B Muse. She is definitely long-legged, horned, black carries red and a 50% chance of carrying dun also. It is fun to watch the long-legged calf nurse on her short-legged mom. Muse is already nursing well and has to bend down to reach the mom's udder.
They will go into the barn for the night so I don't have to worry about coyotes.

We actually have 3 more to go in the next few weeks; I had just posted pictures of two of them. Sugar and Janie will also calve soon. Here is Bennan's calf late this afternoon. She has been up and about and nursing all day!

Nice looking calf Charles, if that was a recent photo of Bennan, she looked like she was ready to go with those pins and tailhead. Congratulations on a healthy calf, and good luck with the next ones. regards Louise PS. I love the look of your barn, just what we downunder imagine an American Barn to look like, not at all like our tin sheds that we have built from tree trunks and galvanised iron. LOL.

Thanks - that is a new barn that we just had constructed. Two 12 x 12 stalls on the front - I don't know how we lived without them! Mom and baby are in one of the stalls for the night now.

I think either Redbug or Sugar will be next. We are patiently waiting.
