I'm worried about my girl and I'm hoping some of you can give me some input. Is she too big for 97 days? I wormed her 2 weeks ago with Cydectin pour-on since that was all I could find to use while I'm milking. I didn't notice that it made any difference. I'm worried about twins or hydramnios or something else I haven't thought of that could make her blow up so fast. Please tell me what you think. The vet will be coming soon to give a Bangs vaccine to her heifer, but he doesn't have any Dexters besides ours, so nothing to compare to. My only other thought is to drive over to the genetic clinic about 2 miles away (they never return messages!) and see if they will do an ultrasound if I bring her over. Do you think I need to worry? Call the vet? Try to get an ultrasound? Get a life??? Thanks for any help you can give me! Photos here.

She looks like she has been eating well and had a packed rumen when you took the photo of her or very mild bloat. I wouldn't worry. Get a life..lol

Hi Susan Yep, I agree, she's looks normal to me. Just well fed with a full belly. The uterus is on the right, rumen on the left, so if it was enlarged you would see her sticking out on her right side compared to her left side. At 97 days the foetus is very small, only as big as a small puppy, most of the growing is done in the last 2 months, especially the last month. That's why you keep the feed down in the last 6 weeks, to keep calves from getting too large. Save some money and get a life LOL

Hi Susan. Have you gotten a life yet? We started in '09 and I worry about everything...she looks ok to me, but I'm glad you've already gotten opinions from those with a higher pay-grade.

I'm glad to hear others worry, too, Joel! Yes, I have gotten a life now, thanks to Lakeportfarms and Louise! I really appreciate the reassurance!

I need to post pics of Bonnie & Rosemary (due in Jan/Feb). They're huge. Rosemary just shuffles. Of course, she looks pregnant when she's not...so.... You'd think they're carrying 1/2 a doz. in there.
