Hi Ian. Congratulations on your bull, he's striking. Looks like he was meant to rule that pasture. I just really like the look of a black bull. There's a beautifully colored wild type red bull close to us and his color is something, but I think for me it's black. His eyes seem quite bright as well, when he looks back over to his left. Like he's thinking "Wow, did I hit the lotto or what??". Looks like he's got his work cut out trying to improve those girls! What does ET stand for? I'll leave any real critiquing to the experts. Thanks for sharing

Hi Joel
I will leave that to Marg, seeing that she bred and named him.

Gee you are funny Carol, here is the story of ET.
ET was born to a fourteen month old heifer who calved a week before her mother!! My husband Mark told me that I could write down a serving date for Damita, ET's mother, as she had just been put in with the bull. I asked what made him think she had been mated, as I had been out all day. She had her tail out and was sulking under the tree, was the reply. So I did as I was told and noted her joining date in the records. The next morning when we went up to check the cows due to calve, as we came down the hill Damita was at the trough and so was a tiny little calf. What is that I asked my dear husband, looks like a calf to me was his reply, and then he added that was the shortest gestation for a calf that we have ever had. I always thought Damita looked not as well grown as the other heifers her age and it soon became apparent why!! It is interesting to note that Damita's first daughter also calved down at 14 months. I now AI Damita if she has a heifer calf at foot, as I will not risk another early baby.
So ET was named for Extra Tiny as he was a small little fellow, which soon got changed to Extra Turd as he was small enough to go through the fences and visit anyone who was in the paddock next door, much to the disgust of his mother who stood at the fence bellowing. He certainly isn't Extra Tiny any more, he has grown into a fantastic bull with that awesome length and he is passing that trait on. He also carries red and is homozygous polled. I will be very interested to see the resultant calf out of his grandmother Gem, if the theories are true it should be a ripper of a calf.

Thanks Ian, I will contact Marg when I have time...Right now my cows are all waiting "patiently" for their hay ...We got pretty cold here in Goliad, Texas, but surely not as cold as other places...We only got to 30 degrees but that was cold enough for me, here in south Texas....Again, thanks....Donna

Very nice bull Ian, he has incredible length. I like to see a well developed crest and good eyes, some hooding and long lashes, helps protect from grass seeds and flies in our area regards Louise
